Bertepatan dengan hari kabisat atau tanggal 29 Februari 2012, Microsoft secara resmi meluncurkan versi (uji coba) baru system operasi mereka yaitu Windows 8 Costumer Preview alias Beta dalam acara Mobile World Congress di Barcelona. Dengan diluncurkannya versi beta ini berarti kalangan publik sudah dapat ikut serta mendownload dan mencoba sebelum veris final dirilis nantinya. Pada versi Costumer Preview ini, Microsoft telah memperbaiki ribuan bugs yang telah ditemukan sebelumnya.

Jika anda berminat untuk mencobanya, sebelum mendownload ingatlah bahwa ini masih tetap versi uji coba yang tentunya mungkin masih memiliki bugs-bugs lain yang belum diperbaiki atau belum ditemukan. System anda mungkin akan berjalan dengan baik tetapi beberapa applikasi bisa saja mengalami permasalahan seperti crash, conflict, atau tidak bekerja secara normal.
